A MESSAGE FROM YOUR SKIPPER

 I cannot begin to explain how delighted I am at being appointed Skipper for the ensuing year and to represent the members of Astbury Golf Club Seniors Section in such a prominent position – thank you Gentlemen for the confidence you have placed in me. 

 As Skipper, I shall do my best to maintain the standards set by previous Skippers and to represent the interests of all the members to the best of my ability.

 During the year ahead we have a full calendar of matches, competitions and social events, and with the very kind assistance of our Match Secretary, I am currently planning my Skippers away day. This is likely to be at a venue which we have all enjoyed visiting in the recent past. Details of the day out will be communicated to all members in due course – I do hope as many of you as possible will be able to join me.

 This year will see the start of a new Winter League format which we hope will encourage more senior members to participate in the event.  Our Competition Secretary, has spent a considerable amount of time in preparing for the change which was proposed at the AGM and endorsed by the members.  I do hope as many of you as possible will be able to play in this competition.

 The Seniors Section can rightly be proud of the role it plays within Astbury GC, one of the most successful Clubs in the region. The success of the Seniors is due to the tireless work of the committee members and, most importantly, the support of all the members. Long may it continue.

  Let me take this opportunity to thank all the members who have offered me their best wishes for the year ahead and may I express my special thanks to members of the Seniors Committee whose assistance, advice, understanding, perseverance and support in the past has been invaluable.

 Finally, let me wish all the seniors the very best of health, good luck and good golf for the year ahead.
